1080p,780p,480p then Plasma,LCD,DLP.

1080p is the highest resolution and the best picture for watching sports, outdoor programs, deep sea movies...!

LCD is one type of television display (liquid Crystal display), Plasma is another, with DLP (Digital Light Processor) or Projector Television being the last.

All are capable of displaying HDTV at 1080p or less and all have their own qualities that you should consider!

The newest LCD sets are offering 1080p resolution. That means they display 1920 x 1080 pixels all at the same time. That is the best resolution you can get from HD. Only the new high-def DVD players actually send out 1080p signals; broadcast, satellite, and cable all use either 720p or 1080i. 1080i shows half the lines (the odd-numbered lines) in one field then the other half follows. Your eye is supposed to combine them to get 1080 lines. A 1080p LCD will do that combining electronically and will display all 1080 lines at once.
