Word is usually part of the Microsoft office package. The whole package will cost you 160+pounds. It is way overpriced considering how many copies are out there but because everybody uses it everybody needs it to be compatible with everybody else a kind of Microsoft catch 22. Whilst those nice open-office people who do a very similar product as freeware make theirs read Microsoft files those not so nice mean Microsoft people do not let office read open office files. they have a vested interest in selling there own stuff.
If you qualify (and you usually can) then get the student/teach edition as you can install it on up to 3 PCs legally. It cost about 120 pound but I got a copy in Singapore last year for my brothers kids for 60 pounds.
