It's not like they have another option. I don't know of any places in the United States that take another country's currency. They might along the border, but otherwise there is no other option. Makes you wonder why they don't make money that leaves it out, or money that reads, " In God We Trust, and We Really Mean It"

Did you think this question through before asking? Do we have any choice? Do you know where I can trade my money for alternative money? Can I get money with my profile on it, stating my personal beliefs? Can Canadians get alternative money if they don't want to spend money with pictures of the Queen on it? You should'nt point fingers unless you know what you are talking about. It is what incites people against others.

Why would believers put "In God We Trust" on money when "The love of money is the root of all evil"?

Because we have to have money to purchase essential goods and services, just like everyone else.

I personally think it would be more representative of traditional American values for "United We Stand" or "E Pluribus Unum" to be printed on money rather than a religious message applicable to most, but not all, Americans.

We ain't got no other money to spend. Of course, a lot of us have been trying to get that taken off the money. The First Amendment prevents the establishment of religion. In my way of thinking, sticking "God" up on the dollar certainly seems like the country is sanctioning his/her existence.

Believe it or not, I would actually accept currency that read, God Is Imaginary, but I'd gladly settle for no mention of god. Until they start printing it that way, I'll just ignore the silliness.

Why are fascist theists determined to put God on our money where god does not belong? Cause it wasn't on coins until the last half of the 1800's and it wasn't on bills until the 1950's.

we aren't given the choice not to, you putz.
What a stupid question!!

If some atheist lobby group back in the 50's had managed to get "There is no god" put onto the money and the pledge of allegiance, would you stop spending money?

There are also lots of pagan and mystical symbols on US money, so maybe you should stop glorifying satan. Putz.

The same reason believers would spend the same money if it said "God doesn't exist". Because it gets you goods and services.

Normally I use an ATM/Check card.

And the government gives us no choice. It fails to respect the constitutionality of "separation of church and state" and therefore FORCES us to deal with currency which recognizes and endorses a deity.

Personally, I write over the word "god" with black permanent marker. It hasn't once prevented me from spending the cash.
