There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie. "Teacup" is only a sales ploy that irresponsible breeders use to sell puppies. These pups are only Yorkies that are bred to be smaller then the breed standard. This is not a good thing. These dogs often have health issues..heart, kidney, liver, etc.

A "teacup" Yorkie is a scam. There is no such thing. Puppy mills and backyard breeders tack that name on undersized or sickly Yorkies and market them as a rarity so people will spend more money on them.
A normal, healthy Yorkie will weigh less than 7 pounds as an adult and this is pretty small. Reputable breeders do not breed females under 5 pounds.

Like everybody else said, these dogs end up with multiple health problems because of being poorly bred by people just looking to make money..Please don't support these breeders by buying a "teacup" dog. There's really no such thing, it's a scam..and by breeding the runt of the litter to another, it causes even more health problems than the average small dog. I had my little Yorkie girl for 15 yrs..She was the best dog...such a personality and so sweet. She weighed in at only 5 pounds...which I consider quite small, and she wasn't a "teacup" anything, I picked her up off the street one night..Best choice I ever made. If I were you, I'd look for a homeless Yorkie puppy..Go to this website: http://www.petfinder.com/ Just put in your location, age and breed preference and check out all the pups near you..

Smaller dogs are MUCH more delicate. They can be susceptible to hypoglycemia and dehydration because their systems are too small to adjust to very much change.
They must be fed tiny meals often. Their bladders are tiny as well, although you can probably train them to a litter box.
Basically, Yorkies are not meant to be bred to "teacup" size. It's really just too small for a healthy example of the breed.

Very unhealthy - poorly bred dogs from unscrupulous breeders only interested in making a buck, not the health or welfare of the sickly dogs they produce. They are more prone to health problems, will cost much more money for vet care & have shorter lives than a well- bred Yorkshire Terrier.
It is best to buy from a breeder that you can find through your closest local chapter of the breed's club that tests & certifies their breeding dogs free from genetic defects, such as subluaxted patellas. Find these reputable breeders through www.akc.org - Good luck!

Special circumstances often come with extra tiny dogs. They are extremely susceptible to both hereditary and non-hereditary health problems, including birth defects that may go undetected for a long time. Other common problems may include, but are not limited to, diarrhea, vomiting, along with extra and expensive tests prior to routine teeth cleanings and surgeries. Small ones are more likely to have poor reactions to anesthesia and die from it. Tiny dogs are more easily injured by falls, being stepped on and being attacked by other dogs. These health problems nearly always result in large veterinary bills.

First of all they are very expensive, and a lot of scams surround the sale of this breed because of its popularity...so be extremely careful.
Do a search for genetic illnesses in Yorkies (Yorkshire terriers) to find out what common ailments they are known for.

Um teacup dogs they are bred from the runts of litters, the little ones. They tend to be unhealthy so I would stay away, get a papillon,
