It's difficult for religion to be progressive because it is based on "holy scriptures" that are many centuries or millenia old. But I notice that many people actually are progressive in religion, and this means they neglect or reinterpret certain parts of this scripture. Like I know in Judaism there is a lot of interpretation of Torah in Talmud to explain what it should mean in changing times - with the result that Jews don't stone anyone anymore and don't sacrifice animals anymore, for example.
I also know that esp. the Lutheran Church in Germany (where I live) is very progressive in that they accept homosexuality and premarital sex, don't insist on the Adam and Eve story anymore and have women even in the highest postitions in the church... all in direct contradiction to the Bible, but they don't claim anymore that the Bible was to be taken literally.

Yes by making us observe the morality of primitive and scientifically ignorant desert dwellers even today in the 21st century, or in the case of Islam stopping progress and returning the world to the year 1426AD ..it's called taking progress backwards.

religion today day is to fit us, not God, that is why some stuffs were changed, all the 10 commandments and stuffs..are all true, etical rules that if we all followed...would make society a lot better...but then again...the man wants to create the religion that fits them the most...
they dont care about what God really wants anymore...

God does not change. But people do. If one were to study all religions, they would see it has been a constant attempt to help humans discover their
spirituality, without having them indulge, and become enslaved to the
baser, (lower), aspects of spirit!
The master learns to control by not controlling.

When people start accepting homosexuals, I'll agree it can be progressive. Until that day, no way.

It can be progressive, but it fights it tooth and nail.
Christianity almost failed because it persecuted Galileo for scientific discovery.

no. i don't think something that is perfect like God's word can be made more perfect. i think some people want to think that way to justify things that aren't Biblical.
