Augmentin is a mixture of two active ingredients, Amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin is a beta lactam antibiotic in which the beta lactam is fused to a five membered ring containing a sulfur atom.

You may be interested to know Clavulanic acid has no antibiotic activity but it blocks the enzymes that degrade Amoxicillin making it much more eefective as an antibiotic

No, I am allergic to sulfa drugs (bactrim, septra) but i have taken augmentin many times without problem. If your worried there are plenty of other antibiotics to take.

I am allergic to sulphar sulphates antibiotics. Be careful what you are doing. That stuff turned me red as a lobster! Yogurt helps you poo out the toxins in your body. Try the new digestive ones. Like Yoplait YoYo. Eat one a day. Stay away from fast food, soft drinks. Drink plenty of water. Do yoga it makes you sweat, they turn up the heat. Or a form of excercise that makes you sweat out toxins.
