Well - for Sushi you could do no better than Sushi Hiro by Ealing Common tube station. It's a real Japanese place - they don't accept credit cards and if you phone to book in English they have to get someone else to the phone as the lady who answers only speaks Japanese.

The food is very good value and the atmosphere is *ok* - it's really all about the Sushi. It's closed on Mondays (no fish landed on Sundays) and it's closed for most of August and December. It closes at 9:30 in the evening. These guys are so good at what they do (which is sushi, sushi and sushi) they don't have to give a crap about stuff like being open when you want it to, taking cards or anything like that.

For oysters - there are lots of places but I love the Cow in Westbourne Grove. There's a pub and a restaurant - I prefer the pub but you can't reserve a seat.

Of course, the best fish restaurant in London is J Sheekey which is a sister restaurant to the Ivy. You will have to book well in advance if you want to get a seat though.

How about Bentleys in Swallow St.W.1. & Beauchamp PL S.W.3
Sheekys in St.Martins Court off St Martins Lane S.W.1.
As a retired London Cab Driver have taken many people there for that special night out

Have you considered trying 'Yo Sushi'? It's not exactly a restaurant but it doesn't count as fast food either. They have those revolving conveyer belts where you pick off what you want to eat as it comes past you. There are lots of Yo Sushi places all over London.

Ooh, try Fish in a Tie, Clapham (rustic flavours at, great value for money, intimate atmosphere) or Blue Elephant, Fulham (thai, slightly more expensive, but surroundings make it an eating experience as opposed to just a meal)

Your kitchen is the best restaurant for you. Go to the fish market and buy your sea food and cook it by yourself. It is much fun. Please do not forget to invite me for such delicious food.
