Where you feel a 'pulse' depends on where your blood vessels are. What you're actually feeling is the muscular lining of an artery being stretched, and contracting in response, so that it propels a 'bolus' of blood forwards along the artery. The heart actually does less pumping than most people think; the arterial muscles are doing a lot of the pumping, controlled by the pressure signal sent out by the heart.

Most people think that the everybody's blood vessels are in the same places, but surgeons are always getting surprised when they cut somebody open and find they are plumbed in differently.

One blood vessel that (almost ?) everybody has is the Aorta.

This is the main pipe out of the heart, taking blood downwards into the abdomen and legs. It passes through the Diaphragm, and the exact place can vary. Your Aorta may be closer to the front of your rib cage than other people's, or the artery from your Aorta to your liver, or another of your abdominal organs, may be closer to the surface.

Having a pulse somewhere unusual doesn't mean you're an alien; however, if your blood's green...

Yep. It was handy at school because it was easier to find than the ones in my wrists and neck.
