I'm sorry but this just reminded me the show Friends and how Ross used to say "We were on a break!" Just don't do anything wrong if you go on a break :)

That's a sticky one your in. It all depends why you want a break. If it is because the relationship is getting to suffocating or you just ain't getting enough alone time or time to hang out with your own mates then you can see why you need a break. But if it is because you have come across a certain 'someone' and your feelings have started to change for your girlfriend then you do need to be on your own to figure what you want and also figure why you feel like this to another girl. Don't use the break to see this other girl because that's a little unfair on your girlfriend. But if it is because you got hit on the head and realized she's the one you want to be with for the rest of your life then yeah you need alone time. Basically be honest with her 'why' you need that time alone, and be clear what a 'break' means. So many people misinterprets the meaning of 'break' and that's where things end up being 'over'.

Just calmly and poliety tell them that something just does not seem to be hitting off and that you need time to find out what the relationship is lacking. And ask them to give you at least two weeks. Mean while it is good to have phone contact so that the person does not feel like you are blowing them off. This way if you want to break up at least the attatchment is not as high as it would be if you were still with the person. But after the two weeks, talk it over, be honest and just let them down easy.

Well that is not easy. I agree with the other answer though. Why do you need the "break" what is it that you need to think about? If you are not sure that you want to be with the person you are with than just come out and tell them. "Hey I'm having second thoughts about us and I need a break to get my thoughts together." However beware. This may backfire in your face. You may be looking for a "break" but you may get an end. Be prepared that if you ask for this that the person you are asking it from may not come back if faced with this. Good Luck

Take a secret vacation somewhere. Explain why she can't come with. Or tell her you would like to take the relationship to the next level and you feel if you are apart for a short while and you really miss each other then you could be the one. Be thrifty there are a hundred ways to do it. Just be true to her and all will be well.

Ha! Brother I thing it is not right to desive someone. Why in the first place u make it up to them when u are not sure of it.
If u want to be honest just tell them it does not matter what u said what is on ur mind.
