I believe there is no "right" number of children for a family to have. Each husband and wife must make that decision on their own. Some couples opt to have no children and some are not able to conceive. Others plan for 1 or 2 and find that they want more. I know some who thought they wanted 2, but after the first, didn't have any more. I also know several families with 6 or more children who are very happy. When my husband and I got married 29 years ago, I really wanted 4 kids, but my husband felt that 2 was enough. We compromised and had 3. When those 3 were 18, 15, and 12, I very unexpectedly became pregnant even though I had successfully been on The Pill for 11 years. It was definitely NOT in our long term goals plan, but she is a joy and we can't imagine our family without her. It is sometimes strange to tell people we have children who are 27, 25, 22, and 9, but it is our family and we are very happy.

There is no right number. Everyone is different if you think 3 or 4 then that is right for you. Just make sure you are financially and mentally ready for 3 or 4 children.
