Should I call Home Depot or a paint store? Do they have people that come out and do the painting for you?

Just saw your post. You do not mention where you live, neither whether you have established a budget, then a specific "look" that you might have selected from a magazine, a catalogue etc. I completely disagree with the idea of going to a "Home-Depot"-type of store: big-box "tools, paint and DIY" stores are mainly for . . . contractors, and highly-skilled (i.e., experienced and tenacious) do-it-yourselvers. Loewe's, Home Depot carry supplies that sell most, and their "most" clients are 1. volume and 2. repeat buyers, i.e. contractors, contractors, contractors. A big-box suppplier advised one of my clients to have a contractor "spray-paint" the new mahogany wood frame to match his antique 18th-Century doors. Need I say more... This being said, first and foremost, know what _you_ would like to achieve as a look, find examples in books (library is great for that, at no cost) and Magazines, decide how much of that look you'd like (only here and there, one wall only, small decorations, walls and furniture, etc...) then go to a high-end decorator only, or a high-end furnishings store in your area. Why? A hig-end source will only work with high-quality Faux-finishers and refinishers. High-quality people can do a beautiful finish and still come within a budget, and will guarantee your satisfaction. And will be able to steer you away from unnecessarily costly, impractical or mismatched solutions, while working with you to create the atmosphere you need with the right color scheme to harmonize with the rest of your home. Also, do stay away from "too much" faux --a trend unfortunately created by inexperienced faux-finishers-- as too much of it ends up making it look not faux, but very fake. Unless you live in one of those remarkable palaces in Abu Dhabi or Saudi Arabia, or simply love the "Venitian" look of the Casino by that name in Las Vegas. It looks great because it's a public space . . . with 50-foot ceilings and 6000-square-foot rooms. Hope this helps. And one reminder: faux-finish "painting kits" are dangerous if you've never painted anything before . . . ;-) With kindest wishes and good hunting! And check the Q&A's in the link below, they will lead you to a few interesting solutions... Catherine - artisteatnapanetdotnet.

Go to an interior decorator. They will be able to do faux painting in your kitchen. Lowe's or Home Depot can show you how to do faux painting yourself, but it's not the easiest in the world to do, especially if you have textured walls. So try doing a sample on a piece of cardboard or something if you try doing it yourself. Most paint stores, especially ones like Sherwin Williams or Porter Paints will probably have a list of painters that can do faux painting if you decide to not go to an interior decorator.

Home Depot does classes to teach you how to do it yourself. Call for times. Also, look in phone book under painters. The artistic ones you want won't be w/ big name companies. They also might have referrals for you. I've done it, but I'm in WA state. Good luck.

Yes, HD can usually refer you to a cotractor. Depending on your city/state there might be an Expo Design Center a Home Depot Store. They have contractors to do that for you.

they should be able to give you how-to instructions or suggest someone who can complete the project for you

they can show you how to do it, or they might be able to give you names of decorators, but i dont think they do it themselves.
