1967 2-door hardtop ford galaxie 500XL. I would like to make it a convertible.

I would like to know how to do this properly, not with torches, sawzalls, driving under low bridges, etc...
I would like to find out where to add structural support on the chassis to compensate for the lack of rigidity removed with the hardtop, and the most effective way to do it. Also, being that Ford made the same model car that year with the convertible option, I was wondering if any Galaxie enthusiasts out there might know if there are any kits or specific hardware I would need. And lastly, what type of modifications would be required to the back deck to allow proper storage of the new soft top.

with alot of work and alot of money. it would have to be customized.

For some vehicles we have convertible kits, which are available to competent members of the public and to trade customers. These kits allow someone with a MIG welder and general bodywork knowledge to safely convert their car into a softtop. The kits include top quality hoods, all the strengthening required and full instructions.

Two things you need to know about convertibles...One, they do attract attention.... Two, they aren't meant for year round driving.I know the vinyl top has come along way and with a good alarms its almost hard to steal a car. The weight is only about a couple of hundred or so pounds different. Most convertibles have a reinforced uni-body chassis to off set the support missing from the roof. I bought a 89 GT and still have doubts if its going to be there when I get back.
