Or is it so far removed that it is almost unrecognizable as authentic Christianity?

Now the focus has been removed from "God the Father" in order to make Jesus the main deity. How is this authentic?

Mainstream Christianity is not true Christianity. Unlike early Christianity, so-called Christians celebrate pagan festivals like Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. They go to war, although Jesus taught his first disciples to love their enemies. False Christians are taught that Jesus is God when Jesus CLEARLY called himself the Son of God. (John 10:36) False Christians use the cross in their worship, even though it is common knowledge that the cross is a pagan symbol that pre-dates Christianity by thousands of years. They are involved in politics, although Jesus taught his followers to be no part of the world. (John 15:19)

Mainstream Christianity is indeed far removed from 1st-century Christianity.

I'm a Jehovah's Witness and we try to copy the original christian sect in every way. We believe that Jehovah was the God of the Jews and that Jesus Christ was His only Begotton son, send down as the Messiah, first for the lost sheep of Israel, and then for everyone else.
Jesus said His Kingdom was no part of this world, so we stay neutral. He said pay Caesar's things to Caesar ,but God's things to God, so we pay taxes and obey laws. More important , He said to love one another and that the world would persecute them. That means they were not to fight and that they were to expect bad treatment just like He got from the religious leaders of the Jews ( John 15 ; 17 - 27 ) Last but not least , He told them at the end of Matthew to go and make diciples , baptizing in the name of the Father, Son , and Holy spirit, teaching them all the things He had commanded them. And He would be with them all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

Edit : that last comment above mentions an old church but gave no link so i looked it up. It only dates to the 200's c.e or third century and here's part of what the article said :
Two mosaics inside the church — one covered with fish, an ancient Christian symbol that predated the widespread use of the cross symbol — tell the story of a Roman officer and a woman named Aketous who donated money to build the church in the memory “of the god, Jesus Christ.”

Pottery remnants from the third century, the style of Greek writing used in the inscriptions, ancient geometric patterns in the mosaics and the depiction of fish rather than the cross indicate that the church was no longer used by the fourth century, Tepper said.

Notice how "the god " wasn't capitalized . Regardless, apoststacy and pagan beliefs had already infiltrated the church after the death of the apostles. Jude mentions this at verse 4 of his letter and 1 John 1; 18 and 19 talks of many antichrists that had already left the congregation.
1 Corinthians 15; 20 - 28 gives the true picture of what has happened to Jesus Christ and his relationship to Jehovah and what will happen in the future.

MAINSTREAM Christianity, in America and everywhere, is NON-apostolic. It has essentially NO similarities to the Church that Christ built.

However, since Christ said that the true Church would never be destroyed and that there would always be a Godly witness in the world to represent and preach the truth of God, the primitive Christian Church of God can still be found by those who look (I've even encountered people on this forum who adhere to many of the original doctrines -- few as they are).

A Comparison of the Two Christianities:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Primitive Church-~=<>=~-| Mainstream
Worship God-~=<>=~-| Worship "saints"
Keep Commandments-~=<>=~-| Law "nailed to cross"
Feasts of God-~=<>=~-| Pagan feasts
Family of God-~=<>=~-| Trinity
Sabbath-~=<>=~-| Sunday
Mortality of soul-~=<>=~-| Immortality of soul
Godly reign on earth-~=<>=~-| "Godly" go to heaven
Ungodly are destroyed-~=<>=~-| "Ungodly" punished forever
Persecuted-~=<>=~-| Persecutors
Tithe-~=<>=~-| Contributions
"Small flock"-~=<>=~-| Worldwide, powerful
etc....
It's important for you to understand that the New Covenant doesn't require a specific form of worship. While the NT gives Messianic Jews and Christians the commandments we are to live by, none tell us how to worship God. We are each priests according to the Order of Melchizedek, with Jesus Christ as our High Priest. Each of us should be honoring God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, but no rituals are specified.
True, the NT gentile churches tended to be a bit dissimilar from the NT Messianic Jewish churches. This doesn't mean one was right and the other wrong. Some churches today use music; others view music as an abomination.
The apostle Paul recognized these differences when he wrote in Romans 14 that we shouldn't argue over such matters:
1 Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. 2 For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. 3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. 4 Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.
Peace.
EDIT: You might be aware of the recent discovery of the earliest Christian church ever found in Israel. The church was dedicated to "The God, Jesus Christ." This demonstrates the early church's understanding of the fact that Jesus is God. Whether we say "the Father" or not doesn't change who He is.
I am not seeing a lowering of status of the Father. He is seen and the final judge the ruler of heaven and earth. But Jesus and the Holy spirit are not less than He is. God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit... Jim
are you able to offer documentation of the origins of that distinctive image? added, that's no longer likely that individuals living in Palestine might have been conscious of that Celtic image, if that image pre-existed Christianity. What does the Easter bunny might desire to do with Christianity, precisely? you may desire to seem on the unique source cloth for the religion. that could be the Bible. there is not any Easter bunny contained in the Bible, so the Easter bunny has no longer something to do with it. shall we nevertheless have fun the resurrection without the bunny. And for various people who're going to quote pagan gods as being resembling the tale of Jesus and/or that Jesus in no way existed, please supply unique source documentation on your claims to coach the relationship, and not some undocumented internet site in accordance with unscholarly evaluations -- that's only getting tedious. Oh, and stable success -- with the aid of fact so a approaches, no longer even ONE man or woman has been waiting to do it. ______________ Cyrus and Atheist Purity: that's directed at you. Zeitgeist fails miserably, with the aid of fact it does not supply even one piece of unique source cloth to coach its claims. And in case you even researched the tale of Horus -- you will see there is not any connection in any respect.
The Christianity of third century Rome was so far removed from the original Semetic Christian off shoot of Judisim as to be not even recognizable. The fraud that modren Christianity has become doesn't even deserve the same name.
Through the docrtine of the Trinity, Christians understand that Jesus is Jehovah God come in the flesh.
"I and my Father are one." Jesus said. And the Jews took up stones to stone him, the Bible says.
"Christ"-ianity is 'Jesus'. Anything less is false, Semitic or not.
Islam can really confuse your brain if you believe it, can't it? You see, you can not make room for Jesus as God. No Jesus-no Christianity. You can not mix your religion with the REAL THING-it just don't fit.
