I would say early 30's. By that time the guy should have a decent career so he could support the kids, he should still be in decent physical shape, and he will be young enough as the kids grow up that he can participate in their lives, rather than sit in a recliner the whole time. Plus, the kids will hopefully be out of college by the time he retires. To do it any sooner (like in his 20's) might be an issue because me may not have all of his "partying" out of his system, and therefore may not be an involved father.

As far as medically speaking, I personally know men (friends of my dad) that recently had happy healthy babies in their late 50's.

The father can be any age. The mother is best in her 20's physically and no older then 35 for the health of the child. After 35 there is chance of retardation, Downs Syndrom and other problems for both mother and child.

Until recently no one thought the father's age mattered that much, just the mother's age.

But there has been research done recently which seems to show a link between older fathers and children with autism.

But there's so much more to being a father than just sperm.........although I do think that no one should become a parent unless they can reasonably expect to see their child's 25th birthday.

I'm 32 and I've lived this long without kids so why would I want them now?? Plus do you know how expensive those things are??I rather drive the new pick up every 2 or 3 years instead. Heck at least you can trade those in.

Hi!

IMHO I would say 30s.

That way you're mature enough to cope.

Young enough to have a good laugh and have lots in common with your kids, like jokes, music etc.

Plus you're still young enough to still to be a little crazy with them when the mood takes you!! Which, in our house, is quite often!

I'm glad to tell you that it worked for us!!

Best of luck with your baby making!!
