yes definitely

there are some questions that science just cant provide answers to, and until we have scientific proof of everything (which i dont personally think will ever happen, but thats just my opinion) there will always be room for religion.

and anyway - religion provides existence with a meaning. if we just took a scienfitic view - we are born, we exist, we die. and thats it. so whats the point? why bother being nice to people? why bother with trying to gain respect/earn money/build relationships? sure we're all going to die anyway.

or at least, thats what science says. religion begs to differ.

and by the way - before anyone criticises me - im a scientist.

I don't have an answer but an experience. With my daughter's birth I was under pressure to get her baptized from my parents and grandparents. I looked into it with the church that I was confirmed at when I was 15. When I called them about my daughter, it was 11 years later, and they told me that I was not a member of the Church any more because I hadn't made a "financial contribution" in the last two years. I was pretty mad about that because I thought you shouldn't have to pay to prey. I'm not really big into religion but I'm pretty sure that if you are, money shouldn't be an issue. Plus, there are so many different ways to worship that it would take a bunch of research just to find the right one. I told my mom that if she wanted me to baptize my daughter that I'd meet her at a local river and I'd put some water on her head, at least I'd feel closer to being in a real place of worship, the nature that "god" created.

Yes, provided we had a secular society. But we don't as the church is an established one and is still connected to the state and therefore dusty bishops of the CofE have an inordinant amount of clout in both houses.

Yes, and no. Religion gives people a sense of belonging, but it is not necessary for an understanding of how the world works, and in fact from that point of view is deleterious.

While Religion for the most part can be false at this point in time, yet if it wasnt around man would have done a swifter job of killing itself off before now.

Yes, there is a place for it and a great need for it as well. There is a huge vaccum in people's lives and only God can fill it.
It is also easily accessible. All we need to do is confess with our mouths that the Lord Jesus was raised from the dead and He loves us!!!!!!!!!!
