Hey there! I'm an English language teacher and I'm preparing a lesson on usage of everyday English. If you've got a minute, could you please think of some very typical situations where you use social language ("do you have a...", "I'm sorry", "excuse me!", "that's OK", "Can I...", "don't worry" etc.) in everyday life? Thanks! :)) I would like to give these situations to the students and let them decide how to respond. Thank you! :))

Crossing the road at a zebra crossing and offering to help a blind man across the road.

Sitting in the underground and offering your seat to someone who needs it more.

There are so many mundane encounters that we have everyday that is often overlooked in second-language classes or text books. Here's some situations that I've had trouble with when I was trying to practice a second language:

Getting directions;
Answering the phone (in a non-business setting) - which is something I was never taught in a foreign language class;
Ordering at a restaurant,
talking to a sales person
