Ummm... this is a rather general question.
IME, the preschool director usually handles the registration process, communicates with parents, coordinates and supervises instructors & staff, sets school policy (although sometimes there is a board of parents or others who do this), deals with student discipline issues as well as any problems w/parents, teachers, or staff. Ours also did all the ordering of supplies; one actually did the books while another only approved expenditures and a bookkeeper actually wrote checks, etc. Communication with parents and others in the community is a large part of the job. Kind of a cross between a school principal and a store manager. LOL!

A preschool supervisor is usually referred to as the director. Their duties are to maintain standards, insure teachers get their yearly minimum quota of training complete, discipline of staff and children (when children due a major no no) ordering supplies needed for classrooms and activities usually a curriculum coordinator makes these lists. Payroll, book keeping, janitorial services hiring, maintenance contracting, insuring health and safety codes are up to par. Interacting and following home office objectives and standards. School tours and enrollment, making sure all students have immunizations up to date. Keeping records of enrollment, classroom teacher-student ratio is as it should be, and arranging staff where needed. Transportation maint. making sure teachers do their sanitation duties, usually in classes aged up to 3 parents get daily reports, handling concerns, recruitment, and much much more. I ran a preschool for a brief stint between directors, and was a member of management for a long time.
