They might not be able to get Down's, but they can be retarded. Like humans, they run the entire bell curve in intelligence. I had a hamster once who was obviously a genius in the hamster world and have had several cats who obviously had mental illnesses.

Downs syndrome a birth defect. There may be an equivalent of it in the animal kingdom, but again it would be the result of a birth defect. Downs Syndrome is totally non-contagious and cannot cross the species barrier.

Downs Syndrome is a genetic abnormality of humans NOT animals.
You can't get a genetic disease. The abnormality is there from the first moments of cells splitting. - as babies grow each cell has the misinformation and repeats the abnormal pattern.

I think YOU have down's syndrome. The second sentence of your question makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Perhaps they can but they would probably be killed or abandoned by their mother. The natural world is cruel but efficient.

I think my cat had it........ had a dwarfish-looking face, and died before it got very old.
