Of course there could be a number of issues, but my first suggestion is to check how much RAM you have installed. Adding more memory on a system that crashes a lot or runs poorly can't hurt. Right click on My Computer/Properties to see how much memory is installed. Anything below 512 MB should be upgraded.

you may have corrupted a dll or a codec

Can you use roll back to roll back to a time when it worked ok ?

If not try reinstalling the windows componants

a fresh codec pack from http://www.free-codecs.com/ over write the damaged files

If all else fails install another video player that has it's own codecs like real player

hi, listen need not to worry... try these

1. Install another Player like Jetaudio or Real Player and then try to playa video.

2.If you are using Windows Xp try to restore the windows before the date of your converter installation.

3. Try to install the Microsoft Windows Codec again. Download it from www.microsoft.com.

4.Buddy If all this fails i am afraid you have to reinstall windows.
