If you make a few life style changes you should be able to lose 5 pounds within a month easily. Here are a few suggestions that may help you.

1. Eat three nutritious meals and three snacks everyday. Cut out junk food. You probably need at least 1500 to 1800 calories a day. Many people make the mistake of not eating enough when they try to lose weight and then become discouraged. Do searches for healthier recipes for the types of food you especially like. There is always a healthier recipe!! Eat fewer hotdogs - just don't have them as often. Include lots of fruits and vegetables.

2. Drink lots of water - at least 8 big glasses as day. Lots of water is essential. Stop drinking soda and other drinks with useless calories. Eat fresh fruit instead of fruit juices - the juices are very high in calories.

3. Begin a simple weight lifting program at home or at a gym. Ordinary household items (tins of soup, for example) can actually serve as weights for beginners. Buy yourself a good weight lifting book. Actually the "dummies" series of books has done a rather good one.

4. Walk, walk, walk. Buy yourself a pedometer and aim for at least 10,000 steps a day.

5. Record everything you eat and all your exercise to make sure you have a "calorie deficit". Two of the sites I've included will help you do that. Basically buring more calories than you take in leads to weight loss. You need a deficit of 3500 calories to lose one pound.

6. If you drive, do less of it and park at the back of the parking lot instead of close to the door. Always use stairs - never the elevator or escalator.

I hope these thoughts help. You can do this. Good luck with it.

You should eat more frutis and vegetables. Put more avocado in your tacos, drink juice instead of soda.
I'm hispanic too and like to cook beans but I just replaced the white rice with brown rice, then I throw some pico de gallo in it. It's delicious and very good for you.
You should excercise at least 4 times a week for 30-40 minutes or an hour. You can do 10 min.in the morning, 10 in the middle of the day, and before you go to sleep if you don't have that much time.

Properly, expect to loose 1-2 pounds a week. It seems slow, but that way you can expect the weight not to come back. in half a month or a month you can easily loose 5 pounds.

Just don't take any fried stuff or sugar. Cut down on pork and red meat.

Oh and one very important thing, drink lots of water, a minimun of 8 glasses a day. This is def. very important because it really helps you more than you thought.

Good luck.

Moderation. Cut back on the chips - you can have a few, just not an unlimited amount. Try to keep to 10-12 chips at the max.

Skip the flour tortillias and go for the corn when having a taco and use common sense about taco fillings.

You might skip the tortillia all together and take the taco mean and put it on some lettuce w/ a scoop of guacamole and tomatoes and go for a modified taco salad instead.

One of my go-to staple diet foods is soft chicken tacos (using steamed corn tortillias) topped w/ lettuce, tomato and guacamole.

You will also want to pass the refried beans (as they are full of lard or other fat - depending on who makes them) and have some borracho beans instead. They are much healthier. Skip the rice if you can (or just eat a few bites) as rice is a quick way to load up on calories.

Afraid I can't offer much hot dog advice. The low cal/low fat ones are kind of gross and a regular hot dog is very high cal.

Hey I'm Dominican so I feel you on the latin food! :) Just try eating 5-6 small meals a day, all healthy. Cut out fried food/fast food, soda. Be really strict the first two weeks. (I usually eat this way Mon-Fri) and then on the weekends i eat what I want. But...make sure you get some exercise in there. Definitely cardio! Five lbs is usually just water weight so you can do it. I lsot 6 lbs in five weeks doing this and have managed to keep it off for months now. GOOD LUCK!

You can still eat what you're eating; just less. It's all about portion control. To maintain weight I think you need to eat 200 calories less than your daily recommended calorie intake for your sex and age group; 700 less to drop about a pound a week.

However, if you are serious about changing your diet, you need to be eating nutritious food--vegetables, meat, fruit. Smaller portions, healthy food. That means steamed veg instead of French fries, baked chicken instead of fried chicken, grilled meat, etc. That's half the battle; you'll also want to exercise to keep off the weight. Good luck.

Hi,
I've tried all different diets, and the weight loss is only temporary. I finally tried diet pills on the market are made from Hoodia. I saw this stuff on ABC News. It's all natural and safe, and it works! My wife took it for a month and dropped 20 pounds. I took it for a month and lost about 13 (but I didn't exercise).

I bought the natural hoodia from this website: http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills.php . I checked the web site address so I can post it here and I saw they're running a promotion now to get a free 2 week sample for only $4.97! I'm going to order this supply for my wife and give it to her for Christmas =)

well eat more greens (salads, etc) vegetables, and work out you can jog, walk, run, swim. but be aware if you lift weight you may gain weight because you are also builing mucsle from fat. if you do lift weights, lift light not like 45 pounds. avoid fatty foods that are fried-- check the nutriton facts watch the calories (2000 a day) then don't eat things that say saturated or trans fat-- unless they are zero. check for msg-- there should be none; because msg makes you hungry and harms your health.
