I live in the US and I'm going to Europe in a few months. A few of my friends have talked about bringing back a bottle. Could I really do it? And how?

Last time I checked, absinthe was decriminalized in 2001, due to reclassification by the DEA, but I'm not sure. So, really, just take it through customs, pay the tax on it, and you're done.

You can order it over the internet. There are many sites that have the real thing. It is not illegal to possess here. The only legal issues is if you bought it to consume it. While that may be your plan, do they have to know that?

I could be wrong also but I think it is still illegal. If you plan on sneaking it in & get caught...plead ignorance. The worst customs will do is confiscate it. You need not worry about taxes. You are allowed 2 btls. duty free.

I brought back some from Europe. It is okay to bring it back to the U.S. The U.S. just doesn't make it here. You can even order it online.
