Absolutely NOT.

A virus hijacks the systems in your cells (including nerves and muscles) for its own reproduction.

That means it is diverting the energy you need for working out (so you are weaker) and diverting the processes you need for recovery (so you will not be fully recovered when you next train).

Your motor skills will also be inaccurate, so you are 'practicing' bad technique, as well as putting a strain on neural systems (including your heart rate control).

If you have a virus, you need to lay off training completely (although gentle movement can be beneficial), while you have symptoms, and for three to seven days afterwards, and start with very gentle (eg beginner or warmup standard) sessions, working back up to your trained level in stages. Tolerate the loss of condition; you will gain faster if you are fully recovered.

It appears you have a chronic inflammatory process ongoing. Aggravated by cold, to bring it to the acute stage. Would suggest you apply a bit of pressure to the base of the skull to determine if there is tenderness or soreness to the area. Does this pressure increase of decrease the symptoms? Should this experience reveal the major distress to be stemming from the base of the skull, you will become aware of the many cranial nerves which are involved, to create the symptoms you outline. Most people with this sensitivity will also be aware of the atmospheric pressure being involved also. A low pressure system moving through the area may also bring about the reaction and set off the acute stage. How long ago did you suffer a neck injury? Or is it the accumulation of micro-traumas over the years. The best suggestion would be to go and visit a doctor of Chiropractic and have an evaluation and diagnosis established. They do treat headaches from the level of causation, not by the symptoms presenting. You can obtain meds to reduce the symptoms but will not treat the causation.

The headache part depends how bad ur headache is if ur in severe pain then no, but the fact that you are contemplating gym tonight tells me it cant be that bad, and I think you really wanna go. If you bring or buy lots of water or fruit juice for vitamins and hydration, otherwise you could pass out! Lots of times you dont feel like excersing coz you feel sick but it turns out to be the best thing you feel better afterwards and sweating could help you out. But if ur really not up to it a good healthy meal or soup an some juice and have a good read in bed and hopefully you'll feel better. BTW I have a cold too right now I too feel like crap and am contemplating going on my cross trainer. I think you have inspired me to do just that! Good luck with ur decision!

It totally depends on how sick you feel. If you have any symptoms like a cough or anything from the chest area down, you should stay at home. If all you have are symptoms in your head, it is fine to exercise, just keep it light. It might make you feel better. Remember to keep hydrated! Hope you feel better soon.

No, you should go home, put the heating on, make yourself a nice bowl of hot chicken soup with a buttered roll, get a snuggly duvet and curl up in front of the telly or read a book. Get better soon x

If it were me, I'd stay home so I wouldn't pass my cold around to the others at the gym. If you're feeling guilty about not exercising, why don't you do some crunches at home? Get well soon!

Go for it! Exercise often make you feel better. Just be sure to take some asprin or ibuprofen. But if you feel like total crap, then just drink some tea and hit the sack, sleep helps you feel better too. Hope ya feel better.

Take some pills and go for it, trust me on this one, you will feel a whole lot better for going. Just take it slowly and half the routine if you start feeling worse. It will help to sweat out some of the cold.
