I don't think there's a foolproof way of doing it, but here's one way of getting a decent measure: Try finding an area that has soft dirt or sand. Start walking at a normal stride a little before you get there, so that by the time you begin leaving footprints, you will be at a normal even stride. Then measure from toe-to-toe or heel-to-heel for all or most of the steps, add together and divide by the number of steps. This will give you the average stride you have.

Measure a distance of 50 feet in a parking lot. Walk normally from one end to the other recording the number of strides (steps). Walk in the opposite direction. If the two numbers agree divide 50 by the number of strides and you have your measurement. If the number of strides walking in one direction is different that when walking the other ways try walking back and forth a few times but remember to walk normally.

Use a football field, which is 300 feet from goal line to goal line. walk at you normal speed and count the number of steps... Divide 300 by the number of steps taken...
This is more accurate than the short walk 10 - 50 ft because your stride will naturally vary over the greater distance, as is will throughout the day...

Draw a line on the ground and measure 10 feet and draw another line and see how many steps it takes you to walk from one line to the other. Divide the number of steps you took into 10 to determine the length of your stride.

Take 10 steps and measure how far you got. Then you divide that number by 10. This is your stride length.

you can get an approximate. because depending on the terrain and how fast you are walking the stride can change. if you have some sand of soft dirt and measure the distance between your foot prints as directed on the instructions or walk or created wet foot prints if you have somewhere that will show your foot prints. other wise visualize it on the floor and measure it.

Place a mark on the ground. Walk several normal paces, at least ten, counting your paces. Place a mark at your last step.

Measure the distance between the marks. Divide the distance by the number of paces. This is your average pace.
