You have gotten some very wrong, yet interesting answers to this question.
God is on death row, and is on death row everyday, reaching out to those lost souls in a last attempt to save their souls from the fiery depths of hell. It is not now, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be God's will we be separated from Him. The fact we are is our own fault by way of decisions we had the free will to make any way we chose.
The sad truth of the matter is, believers would probably not help Him. Just like Jesus was abandoned by his apostles just before His sacrificial atonement for our sins, God the Father would probably also be abandoned. I would also like to point out, that if God were on death row as a prisoner, it would not be because of a crime, but to provide an example of a life lesson He wishes to teach us on how to accept and face consequences for our actions gracefully or to carry out some part of His plan for us.
The great thing is, the grace of God would be big enough, and have enough room to forgive even those who would gladly applaud as they see him killed.

Well of course in the Christian tradition, God really was on death row, so to speak. And yes, those who believed in him made an effort to help him. Perhaps the answer is yes.
On the other hand, while Jesus is considered the son of God, he also said that we are all children of God. Because Christians are not active in helping the children of God on death row, it seems unlikely to me they would God himself on death row either.

If God was on death row it would be his plan and so yes the believers could try to help him, but He decides the final outcome.
Just like the Crucifixion....It was prophecy, it was to come to pass. No one could have stopped Jesus from making the ultimate sacrifice.
