I have used adhesive window coverings w/good success. They permit light to enter, yet retain privacy and can be cut to any shape. Hardware stores carry a variety, but you can also purchase thru catalogs like Carol Wright Gifts. I have used a clear frosted and a floral print, both of which are attractive. Measure the shape adding a slight excess (1 inch or so) around the shape. Cut the shape out. Remove the backing and apply. Smooth down w/a damp sponge. Use an exacto knife to trim excess away for a perfect fit. Occasionally air bubbles appear. Simply prick the bubble w/a pin & press the bubble flat.

The entry doors with oval glass that I have seen, use a "square" curtain a little bigger than the glass, with a small rod at the top and bottom to hold it tight.

To the best of my knowledge, the shape of a curtain covering an oval window is rectangualr, following closely the dimensions of the window at its widest and longest.

If I understand your question correctly, you can buy that rectangular curtain any place that sells curtains.

IF it is truely a steel door. i have solved this problem before. take the curtain of your choice, using the loop that you put your rod in,take a sowing needle an put a couple of stitch's in it about 2in.'s from end, insert a magnet, one of though's like you may find on a can opener, then put 2 more stitch's on other side to keep in place,if you have no sowing skills then use a paper stapler for same results! good luck...
