Why is it that pro illegals and Mexicans assume that when someone says illegals, they are talking about Mexicans only? In what part of illegal alien does the word Mexican come in? So please get over claiming people are racistand stop using that as a scapegoat to the argument. Illegals is anyone who is in this country or any country illegally and undocumented.

It means all races. Mexicans just happen to be the majority of illegal aliens in the United States, and the most outspoken. You dont see Japanese, Chinese, French etc.. demanding their language be the official language of the U.S do you? Nope...You wanan know why? They respect our country and our countrys law. They dont think of the white man as a evil racists like Mexicans do. They also dont declare may01,2006 a holiday to show us how many illegal Mexicans there are and to leave our schools and restauraunts (thanks for showing me which ones to boycott--all the ones that were closed on may01)

Illegal does not mean just Mexicans, it means any person that is in our country illegally. They come from all over but, the majority of them is from Mexico. Illegal means exactly that-Illegal.

Because that is the only category of people frequently in news for attempting to cross the border, working without permits and such things. Though there are illegal immigrants from many other countries, somehow the limelight seems to focus on Mexicans.

Since when does it just mean Mexican? I think maybe Mexicans scream racism and think that the fight against illegals only pertains to them due to their guilty conscience for making up 80% of the illegal population.

It's a practical issue in a number of respects. There are many small businesses and communities that have grown up thanks to the income of illegal immigrants. If the illegals left, these communities would suffer. Illegals do many jobs, such as seasonal farming, that others are unwilling to do. If you got rid of the illegals, food prices might go up and many farmers might have trouble finding replacements. (Most unemployed Americans do not want to work as seasonal farmhands.) The cost of getting rid of illegals would be in the tens of billions of dollars, especially if you consider lawsuits and the various practical issues involved in moving them (or jailing them). Many illegals actually help our economy. For instance, those illegals (by some estimates as much as 25% of them) pay into the Social Security system, but will not be eligible for benefits. So, illegals help that part of our economy. The Supreme Court ruled that any child born in the US is an American citizen, so what do you do with illegal immigrants who have children that are American citizens? It's a tricky issue, especially given the fact that allowing only those with kids born here to stay could encourage illegals to have children here. We need to address illegal immigration, but for the reasons I named and others, there is not easy solution.

it doesn't... illegal immigrants are from any country... however I think on the reverse side, people pro illegal are only considering the Mexicans... not everyone from all over - which includes all the nice terrorist we have out there... so you are defending the pro-illegals, but they are the one's making this a Mexican matter.. people like me are looking at the bigger picture... thinking if we open our doors to illegal immigrants, who all would be coming.. not just south of the border

It does not. That is a terrible thing to suggest. The word "illegal" means anyone of any race or national origin who is not in this country legally.
