It really does annoy me.. It makes me feel like they didn't put much thought into the question, just asked, even if it is a simple question..

And especially chatting, it makes me feel like they are inferior and stupid when they spell things completely wrong, and make not attempt to correct themselves. Mind you, I know I've spelled things wrong, and accidently hit the wrong keys all the time. Even when chatting I'll type 'u' for 'you' and not use capital letters at the beginning of the sentence.. But when people say 'coz' and 'sk8' and things like that, it makes me feel like it's a 10 year old, even if they are 18 or whatever.

It drives me insane, particularly on here. There is a thing called spell check that people seem to have difficulty finding. When chatting it is a little more acceptable, not much but a little, because there isn't the convenience of spell check. What's worse is when you correct someone or mention they utilize the spell checker in any context the person asking the question becomes highly offended. For anyone offended by my response now I am going to show you how easy it was to make sure everything was spelled accurately because I had left a few mistakes intentionally. Now watch. Wow, took me 10 seconds to fix all of my mistakes.

I would call people lazy, not "inferior" or "stupid", for making spelling mistakes. Anybody using a computer has access to a spelling checker! "U" instead of you and "coz" are perfect examples of laziness and also show a lack of respect to the person they are writing to. I would prefer they either take the time to write words in full or not bother writing at all. We all hit the wrong key from time to time but it takes very little time to read through and correct mistakes before sending.

It depends. If they're using abbreviations to save time when chatting (2moro, ur, need2go) then I don't really regard it as a misspelling because they intended to write it that way. Some people are dyslexic and can't help it. Others are just stupid, didn't pay enough attention at school, never read anything or don't care about the reader.

Yes. It annoys the hell out of me. I can accept a typo or something, but the regular misspelling of words is sooo annoying. And the "IM" language is even worse since you have to sit there and figure out what the person is trying to say. There is a check spelling button on everything, there is no excuse to have words spelled wrong. IM language is just lazy.

Anything that gets in the way of good communication should be avoided, like poor spelling, or a lack of sentence structure and puctuation.

I am 100% behind you.

Ignore the illerati who say "liten up its only a websight," who are showing the enormous breadth of their intelligence. And their lack of maturity.

I agree,oh I so agree!! It drives me up the wall,I don't mind some spelling mistakes but yes, when people write in 'text speak' or even text in 'text speak' it irritates me like nothing else! It's all about saving time now, it takes longer to write 'you' than to write 'u' apparently! To be honest if someone texts me using text speak I actually can't understand what they mean! :)

Not really.

Or only when they spell loser "looser". That bugs me.

Some internet misspells are comedy gold. I love words like pwns, teh, n00b, etc.

I realise it really bugs some ppl, but not everyone can write good English. Should dyslexics be banned from our bandwidth? Don't think so.

I agree with you 100%. I hate when "ne" is used for "any, " and "ur" for "your." It makes me question if they are intelligent enough to be able to spell the words correctly. And what's with "Ma" or "Mah" for "My?" Ick!
