Mostly the answers chosen for best answer are the ones that agree completely with the asker of the question. And also most of the time questions here go into voting. So usually the first person to answer gets picked. Regardless of the response.

Sometimes. It depends on the asker's intent for the question. Some on here are truly seeking answers. Some are trying to submit answers in the form of a question. Others are just trying to be irritating.

I personally don't like asking questions in this section because of all the rude answers I tend to get. I know what I believe, so l probably ask the kinds of questions that challenge what other people think, so I'm not looking for an answer for myself. On one of my questions I asked about bias against Christians and then chose the answer that best illustrated this bias.

It all depends on what you're looking for. This isn't simply a fact based category. It's not as simple as "who was that actor that...." as in other categories. This category is so broad, and includes so many different beliefs, what is a "best answer" really?

Probably. Generally, most of the questions on here have an element of opinion in them, and anything that doesn't reflect the opinion of the poster is a "wrong" answer. People naturally think that others who share their opinions are more intelligent than those who don't. It's the nature of the beast, an ego thing.

I often provide an intelligent explanation of my views, only to find a silly but supportive answer chosen as best. Its something about how the topic of religion is a magnet for those who have a closed mind and no interest in learning from their opposition.

Not so much that the answer is favorable to them as it is that the response confirms their beleifs, and so wins as the Best Answer, when in reality it isnt the best answer - just the one the asker THOUGHT sounded best or confirmed their beleifs.

You're absolutely right. Way to go! I couldn't agree with you more, you hit it right on the head.

You're brilliant, genius, and insightful! I always love your questions and your answers are so thoughtful and obviously well researched. You are very possibly one of the best Q&A'ers here on the R&S section.

We are all deeply enriched by your presence.

Much of the time, yes. However, there are genuine seekers with open minds and hearts.
