Hi. I would like to hear peoples experiences of honeymoon destinations, or even anyone that's had a great holiday, not just honeymooners. I am so confused you have no idea, and places are getting booked up fast so i need to move quickly! I am planning my honeymoon between mid April/mid May and don't know where to go.
I want somewhere beautiful, very relaxing, not alot of kids around, good weather, but with maybe a little something to do in the evenings. We were planning on going to the Maldives to the gorgeous resort of Huvafen Fushi (huvafenfushi.com) but i can't help but feel that we will get so bored there. All there is to do is sleep and eat! Oh, and of course the obvious naughty things that any newly wed couple would get up to ;-)

Any ideas??

We go on Honeymoon on Boxing Day, 4 nights in Auckland, 10 nights in Fiji, 3 nights San Francisco, not cheap but should be good.
We went to the Maldives in January for 10 nights, once you learn to relax you won't get bored, it's just that we feel that we should be doing something all the time. Once you realise you don't have to do anything you'll be fine.
Anyway you can go snorkeling, spend time together etc..

Hi Nat
I got married 6 years ago, and the wife was desperate to go on a cruise.. I thought 'no way - all old people playing bingo...' How wrong I was. We did a 2 week cruise around the Caribbean and it was the best holiday ever.
The ships nowadays are so big you will never explore all of it.
The food is out of this world, the majority of cruise lines love to cater for newly-weds (we dined on the Captains table twice ! 8* treatment then !). The night life is amazing - anything from proper Broadway shows to Casinos, shopping, drinking, parties, night clubs - you name it.
You wake up every day to a new port and a different place to explore. The facilities are second to none - if you want a day on the beach that's fine, if you want to go diving that's fine, you want to be a tourist that's fine....
Jewellery is top class and usually about half the price of back home.
Have a look at Royal Caribbean or other big cruise lines. If you shop around you will the most amazing deals (just book a cabin with a window !).
Last year we did the Hawaii islands - the temperature is the same all year round, and again a fantastic time...

Good luck with whatever you decide....

Matt

I'm with billy here.
I used to live in Kenya, but it became shitty so I tried Zanzibar and found a wonderful place to be. East coast hotels must have been built by now but try and stay in the old Stone Town Hotel for a night or two for a lovely African/Moorish/exotic feeling.
You can go on Mitu's spice tour, check out the old slave market and go offshore to the old prison islands.
I must admit I haven't been there for 12 years, but I don't believe the feeling of harmony amongst the incredibly mixed population will have gone away in that short time.

Try a caribbean cruise, Starting at Miami, You can get various destinations and some have some late night departures from ports of call but you could do one that includes Jamacia, Haiti, Grand Caymen, St thomas, St Kitts... The list is endless and the itinerys available are many. You wouldn't be bored in the evenings there is always plenty to do.
Hope it helps...

I don't know if you might like a tour in northern Italy, namely where I'm from.I know for sure that Venice is a very romantic city especially for just married ones. You could then visit Milan,Florence and Rome and maybe Paris or Vienna. All these places are very interesting. If you want something more relaxing I would say Polynesia but it could be just like the Maldives, everything beautiful but nothing to do.

I had a wonderful holiday in Boston....there is just SO much to do! You can go whale watching, there's a fabulous museum of fine art, there's lovely walks, there's a quirky museum called the Isabel Gardner museum with things in a house jsut as she lived with them, there's a WONDERFUL aquarium, good shopping, the Cheers bar.....all sorts of stuff. May not be warm enough for you though?
Also good range of hotels or we rented an apartment in the old part of town (Charles Street) which left us a bit more independent.

We were in the Maldives for 12 days a couple of years back and enjoyed every minute. Walking round the island on the white sand, paddling in the sea. Walking out to the reef, snorkelling with the fish. Trips out to sea the whales and dolphins, visits to nearby islands, falling off wind surfers etc etc......If you don't want to go I'll take your tickets!!!!!!!!!!

If you want something with not many children about, try a Sandals resort, they are adults only and all inclusive... Including cigarettes!!
They are in great locations, And as it's a once in a lifetime trip I'd say St lucia or Bahamas.
Well, they're my dream places anyway!!
Good luck and congratulations on your big day.

my favourite holiday was puerto vallerta in mexico ,i recommend 4 star all inclusive allocate on a arrival because its cheaper and the hotels are all fabulous so it doesnt really matter which one you go to and they are all on the beach.beautiful beaches exciting wildlife plenty of nightlife and restaurents and also cheap compared to cancun and the carrabean.
