I personally have a problem with chalking everything up to unfathomable forces. I see it as too easy a leap to victim-blaming (by oneself or by others). Sometimes a series of bad things just happens. This can be an obstacle to be overcome, or a permanent roadblock. Reading too much meaning into things can be detrimental to just getting on with life.
