I have so many risk factors for cancer, especially skin cancer. Lately, I have just had a bad feeling that I have cancer somewhere, but I don't necessarily have any symptoms. Has anyone ever heard of someone just feeling like they have cancer, and it turning out to be true?

My 17 year old has cancer but other than fluid build up, he has always been asymptomatic. He did feel his cancer though, but we didn't know what it was. He kept feeling a hard lump in the abdominal area and asked what it was. I didn't know but kind of dismissed his concern. I did feel ill at ease though, but I couldn't put my finger on why. You just don't expect a healthy athletic kid to have abdominal cancer, you have nothing to compare the experience to. Unfortunately, a month later he was diagnosed with stage IV cancer.
There are many types of cancers that give no warning signs at all and can progress to a stage IV without symptoms. If you have a feeling that something is wrong, than you need to act on that instinct.
It is probably best for you to go have a complete physical and mention your concerns to the doctor.
When we were first trying to figure out what was wrong with him, nothing made any sense and in hindsite we should have been communicating more with his pediatrician. So talk to your doctor. Tell him why you feel this way and insist that he take you seriously.
I will always regret not taking my sons comments that something was wrong as seriously as I should have.

My father was sure he had cancer. He wouldn't go to the doctor and he just kept getting sicker and sicker. He and my mom used to have terrible arguments over it. When he finally went......they rushed him into surgery. When they opened him up. He was full of cancer. It had spread from his kidneys all through his body. He died about 3 weeks later. But he had been in a lot of pain for several years. This was back in the late 60s and cancer was still a death sentence. I don't even know if anything could have been done for him if he'd sought help sooner. It's the reason I chose this career.
But we DO have incredible testing capabilities and treatments now. If you feel that something is wrong, please get seen. Let the doctors do some tests and tell you that you are fine. If they should find something...they can probably cure it.

Please go get checked out. My mother had NO symptoms of any cancers at all until one day she had a seizure and passed out. She was rushed from her house to the hospital and transferred to another hospital. She just was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and unfortunately had NO symptoms. Her cancer started as skin cancer then it went to her brain, thyroid, kidney, and lungs so please do not neglect your self and seek help. It is better to get a clear bill of health then to have something like this dropped on you and your family. I am striving to help other learn that there always isn't a sign or symptom but your health is so important so please get checked!! It will also ease your mind if you are worried because the stress is also not good for your body either. Good luck and god bless

Damn right My grandfather felt it right up to the day he died. Went out screaming to the last breath. Later he told me it was the damned pain he had ever had in his life. Now when you just have a little speck you probably can't feel it. You are probably just a hypochondriac but if you even suspect you have it you should be checked out by a doctor. Kisses Betty.

I lost a 15 yr old cousin to cancer. she was sick for a while before they took her to the doctor and found out she had cancer (at age 12-13). she only lived 2-3 more yrs after diagnosis. my 85+ yr old grandpa died of cancer but he didn't know he had cancer until he finally went to the doctor and found it had spread to his brain. so my young cousin had symptoms and my old grandpa didn't . . . so get to the doctor to make sure you're OK

Cervical cancer can be caused by different things. One thing that is believed to cause cervical cancer is the exposure to HPV or Human Papilloma Virus (www.cdc.gov/std/hpv). HPV is also known to cause genital warts. An increased number of sexual partners can increase a women's risk due to the number of sexually transmitted contacts with HPV. There is a vaccine out that can be administered to certain age groups of young women.

You need to stop worrying, that in itself can cause health problems. Get checked out by your Doctor.
