i usually rip dvds using DVD Decryptor, and convert them to iPod format using Videora.

It really depends on the type of file you want to play, im assuming you want to play them on a iPod Video. If so then you need a MP4 converter, (Try searching for Mpegable on google)
If you just want to add a movie to your iPod to watch on your computer later, try putting it on iTunes.

Download them on your itunes and then on your ipod.
