Yes. Biblegod is supposedly the biggest kid on the block so he gets to declare "do as I say not as I do" when he commits or endorses mass murder in his "Word". As described in the Bible, he is a tyrant and an egomanic regardless of his claims of being "loving' and "just". Heck, the creation myth at the very start of the tale says all you need to know: God set Adam and Eve up for their fall, knowing full well what would follow, then blamed them for what happened. Some "love and justice".

You don't understand the meaning of turn the other cheek. Being backhanded was an insult so you turned the other cheek to see if they would strike you with the palm of the hand and show you respect. Only those washed in the blood are not subject to O.T. law everyone else is cursed by the law.

Because it is based upon incomplete information.
God does not judge "based on his own whim", but upon eternal principals that we all knew and agreed with prior to choosing this mortal experience. God's judgment is merely the consequences of our own choices and actions. But He is infinitely merciful and has provided us a way to overcome the demands of justice. That's where Jesus comes into the picture.

Not Christians. In Matthew (Sermon on the Mount) the teaching is that if someone hits you on one cheek, you must turn the other cheek too. If he asks for your tunic, you must give the cloak too. If he asks you to walk 1 mile, you have to go 2. Jesus heals the ear of the servant after the apostles pulled out swords in Gethsemane.
The Crusades were FAR more complex than most modern media makes them out. They were a lethal mixture of culture, politics, commerce with a thin coating of religion. Unfortunately, most people start studying the Crusades in 1093, instead of 638 and 1009 when the seeds for the conflict were planted.

It doesn't make sense to have 'free will' and then to be punished for not choosing God. It's all based on fear.

No. The Catholics and Muslims base their respective cults on that principal. Christianity has nothing to do with it.

he doesnt punish us on his own whim, we have to make the choice to do good or bad and then we bring the punishment to ourselves.
also he doesnt shun us off to hell, he hates it when people go to hell, but if they make the choice, then he if forced to do that.
it just all boils down to choice, at least for christianity. i cant speak for Muslims
