I would say it is an algorithm.

A certain religion claims there is some plan but then allows for randomness within this plan. That seems strange to me (I won't say wrong or silly, just strange).

Others, I think, seem to see it as more of an equation.

How do you see it?

An algorithm is a defined proceedure for solving a task. An equation is a mathematical statement, which may be a step in an algorithm, and whose solution is itself an algorithm. Neither involve process.

Existence is proceedural (some might make the arguement that it's object-oriented, but I digress). Therefore, it is neither an algorithm or an equation. It is an implementation of a self-computing algorithm, but an implementation is not an algorithm, just as the defintion of a cat is not itself a cat, but a definition.

Hi Eliza, Considering how a lot of us here feel about Astrology, I think most of us would agree that it is miscategorized in YA. It is definitely not just entertainment for us. Actually, maybe they should leave Horoscopes (for novices) where it is, and create a new category for Astrology (for advanced students) to be included in the R&S section. You are right that people get mobbed in R&S. I went there a while back and posted a few answers. The responses that I received did not make me happy at all, and I resolved to not go there again. However, I have made a few exceptions to that rule when contacts pull me over there. Anyway, to answer directly your question, I don't know if people are beginning to move to our section to discuss "Spirituality," but if they aren't, they should, as we Astrologers are very nice, fun-loving, open-minded people who enjoy discussing various spiritual viewpoints.

You get all the animals, plants and mountains and rivers ready, then you turn em loose. You're thinking way too hard in a mathematical sense, try to use your imagination a little more.
