We've tried talking to them, but they don't seem to care.

I had the same problem last year. Two really hot Marines moved in next door who thought it was socially acceptable to blair their music at 2 on a Tuesday morning. I've adopted the three strikes rule. I give verbal warning two times, just really politely go to their apartment and say, "Hey guys, I'm trying to sleep, I've got class in the morning, could you please turn it down." On the third time, I let them know that if they can't turn it down, I'm going to have to call the police for a noise violation. If that doesn't work (and it hasn't on at least two occassions), I call the police.

It seems really mean but you pay good money to live in your apartment and there's no reason why you can't expect to have quiet during normal sleeping hours (which I consider to be between 10-6).

Moving is always an option, but it is SOO expensive and such a hastle.

Start calling the police annonymously. If you ask them to, they're legally obligated to keep you annonomyous. They can ask that the neighbors keep quiet and explain that there have been complaints.

The other option is to talk to the landlord (if there is one). Calmly explain the situation and ask that they do something about it. If you don't know who the landlord is, it is a matter of public record who owns the property. The county clerk's office should have the purchase record and a contact of who owns the property.

My husband asked our neighbor to PLEASE stop slamming their shed door (it's real close to our bedroom) - to date this problem has continued. My husband even let the guy borrow a hand planer to shave some of the "green" wood off the door, guess the wood didn't dry or something - but the door slamming (shed AND back house door) continues! My husband says to ignore it but I can't. I have kept a log of this door slamming of dates & times. Am getting quite fed up! Their landlord allowed that shed to be "butted up" to the chain-link fence and that door slamming shakes our windows! The neighbor has his nose "stuck up his landlords" a.. that their landlord won't do anything! What should I do about the door slamming? (BTB, my husband makes fun of me for wanting to call the Sheriff's Dept.

wait until late at night and take some ky jely and some mayo and put it all over the outside of there door handles, and also under the handles on there car doors... That way when they leave the next day they'll go to open there car door and get a big handfull, so they'll want to go back into the house to wash there hands so they'll open the door with the clean hand and then it'll get a little slimmy also.. ha ha it's great.. After that wait about 2 days and start throwin clear thumb tacks in there driveway...

If you have a noise ordance in you community, and they are slamming after hours, report them. If you keep calling the police on them the police will get tired of your calls and do something about it. Tell the landlord if you have one.
