I've been eating venison for years. I mainly have it cut into cube steak, and I love to eat it, but my wife doesn't like the wildgame taste, so that is why I'm trying to find the easiest and best way to take it out. Thanks for the help.

I've heard that about soaking it in Italian dressing. Ever heard of soaking it in buttermilk?

It all depends on how your cooking it.
If it is roast try roasting it with some sort of fat, like bacon.
If it is deer burger, Lipton soup mix works aw some.
I fix deer all the time so experimenting is the best, just remember that deer has very little fat so you will need to add some sort of fat to it which in turn helps to take the game taste out of it.
Good luck.

The common practice is to marinate the meat for a day and a half. It not only removes the gamieness but tenderizes the meat as well. A friend of mine marinates his venison in two changes of buttermilk over a 24 hour period.

This is kind of gross, but I have to put up with it every year, so here goes: soak the dead, skinned, animal in cold water (we use our bathtub) for about a week or so; then when you get it cut up and you cook it and season it, it sould make good venision. I think the soaking was your answer, by the way. Happy hunting!

My father would cut up the deer meat in chunks and my mother would can it and when she processed it, she would put a beef bullion cube in there or a bacon slice. It just gave it a different flavor. My family loves baked deer meat and we add a little bbq sauce over it and it does tame down the taste.

I have soaked venison using two methods - milk and a vinegar/water mixture, and it turned out good either way.
