If there is more orange than brown in your couch, don't go with turquoise... blue and orange are complementary colors and will always make the other stand out... which means your couch will look more orange and the turquoise will stand out like a sore thumb.

It's really hard to say what color to use when the other components of the room are unknown. I will give it a try and maybe a few suggestions...

If your couch is solid in color, you can definitely go with print. the print depends on what style you are looking for: leopoard and any other animal print if you want an ethnic theme. Stripes or plaid for a more masculine theme. Damask soft colored prints for a more romantic and feminine theme. And if you want to go zen (which is my choice) you would want to use some textures, go with some natural colors like naked concrete colors and always, always remember to put in a touch of red somewhere. If you give me more info to go on, I'll be more than happy to give you some other ideas.

If you go with prints, keep in mind that today, you don't want to have matching cushions or throw pillows. You should keep to the same color theme, but you can match stripes, plaid and paisley. Be a bit daring and enjoy yourself.

If none of these appeal to you, choose one other item that you really like in the room: a vase, a lamp, a throw blanket, your drapes... whatever.... and then choose the colors for your throw pillows from that one item. Keep the color theme going and also keep in mind that to have complete color harmony in your room, you need to have 3 colors: 1 dominant color, one second color and an accessorizing color.

Have fun!

Since your couch is a solid color use print pillows. Stick with the falls color.

Work with the accent color in your room. I have a cinnamon colored leather livingroom set and use green and gold to accent, I think it might work well with your colors also.
