I thought that it was nuns that wore habits, not monks

The Bible says to "pray without ceasing" (I Thessalonians 5:17 ESV). This, of course, doesn't mean you pray during every single second of every day. But more or less, simply to be in the state of mind of prayer. It is similar to the meditation Joshua would have done after receive this word "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it." (Joshua 1:8 ESV). He meditated while doing other tasks throughout the day. As such, we can pray during miscellaneous tasks as well.
Also, maybe you have the gift of intercession. In that case, I definitely would not leave a habit such as you have taken up. To be able to pray like that is such a gift.
Keep on.

I have put a bit of study into this. Now if you look at someone with OCD obsessive compulsive disorder you will see that people develop this when they have fear of illness for example. What they are doing is ritual. Deep down inside, your body and mind naturly develops ritual to fight illness or fear of something. Now prayer can be compared in the same manner. I am still not understanding why we should fear god to pray so much.

Yes, the habit is much too drab, and needs washing every once in a while.

it doesn't matter how many times a day you pray, just as long as you're praying to the right person

It is a question no one can answer but you alone. You know yourself - what makes you happy, contented and alive - and you must follow that. In our lives, decisions are made everyday - decisions made to the best of our ability to make us happy. Maybe its time for soul searching.

I don't understand why you would do that? Is it a religion thing that I'm not aware of? Shouldn't you pray to God without ceasing?
