I've had one for about 2 years, and use it all the time in my workout. It may look expensive, but (IMO) it is worth the money. That is, if you use it. Too many people have only used it a couple times and complain that it is a piece of junk. It is different than freeweights, and feels different, but you can get a very good workout from it.

Another little tip I found out works great: Get a pair of dumbbells to workout with also. I found I get a much, much better workout using both than when I've only used one or the other. For example, do dumbbell curls and follow it with bicep curls on the Bowflex.

Okay Brian,
Are you looking to be a body-builder type only looking for an aesthetic appearance to impress the ladies or are you looking to get in functional shape. What I mean by functional is the way we go about our daily lives. This includes work and play and how our bodies use muscles to complete these tasks. By using machines such as a Bow Flex you are limiting your potential, due to the mechanics of the machine. The Bow is better than most other machines that are isolated driven, (don't need to use core muscles, and most are single-joint movements) but still your movements are assisted by cables and pulleys. You're better off buying a set of dumbbells that can change weights and utilizing body-weight exercises. You can still use a Bow only to do assisted exercises. But for the main body of your workout concentrate on big movements that use the most amount of muscles.

Its a great machine if you use it. The problem is that it can get kind of tough to put together at times, or you feel like not working out that day (which happens more and more if you let it happen even once). If you know you will use it, it is definitely worth the money.

It is good if you don't want to work out with free weights.

With the money you spend on bowflex you can get a power cage, couple of benches a lat/tricep station and set of free weights and dumbells.

it is comparable to others.....check out the sport ad section in your local paper....you will find in most cases, bowflexs for sale after the buyer got screwed on the payment system...bowflex is a marketing gimmick...the machine does work OK....but for half as less that the TV price........my opinion, free weights are the best........

I love mine. Found that it's better than the free weights I was doing at the gym, and I feel pumped sooner. I also noticed that I added muscle mass quicker, and my workouts were shorter. Just like the commercials....

We just bought one last week, a used, but good one.
Love it and I am still sore; doing it's job I guess. Try to get one off ebay locally. I wouldn't pay full price. I still think everyone needs good cardio, my treadmill works great in between.

My father-in-law has one. He went from being 50 and out of shape, to 51 and looking as good as my 27 yr old husband...so I'd say yeah. It's worth it.
