My 8 y/o son was abandoned by his mother and now lives with me .. after enrolling him in school today I realized that nothing was done in court for this change so I am still on the hook for child support. How do I go about getting these payments to stop since i have him living with me now?

You need to talk to a lawyer and have them submit a form to support enforment stating that you now have custody and the support payments will cease. Make sure that this is done legally and as soon as possible since mother can reclaim legal rights and also charge you with back child support. You should also look into getting some counseling for you son since abandonment is a huge issue that is difficult for a child to understand or to work through. A child will feel that they are not worthy and will carry this shame with them for a long time.

Go to court and talk to the judge that originally handled your child support case and make sure and have all the details with you when you go. That should take care of it. You shouldn't have to be making child support payments if wh abandoned the boy...
