This time I have to buy a Christmas gift for my new boss. He already has everything. He is an insurance broker.

First of all, it's going to be based on what you're willing to spend.

some people find it tacky, but i've always thought that gift cards are great, since it's like guilt free shopping knowing that you're spending someone else's cash, while at the same time spending on something you actually want as opposed to the nifty paperweight.

Along the same lines of thinking, you can get a gift certificate for the local coffee shop, take him out for lunch, chocolate, etc - everyone has to eat.

If you know his hobbies, you can go that way - golf? Maybe pay for one of his green fees. Movies? - a subscription to NetFlix or maybe Fandango.

The key would be not to think about what kind of nifty paperweight would be nice, but perhaps what would be practical. this way, it doesn't really how much you spend, it will get used, and appreciated.

The reason for giving a gift is not to provide something that someone doesn't have. It's to remember that giving is blessed by God and we pass that blessing on when we give a gift. Make the gift to a new boss something that reflects his interests, hobby, or preferences. If he's a family man, a classy frame for a photo of his wife and kids.

MY specialty is buying for those hard to shop for.

Give him a basket, box, or bag filled with different foods. Things he probably wouldn't try himself but as a gift it is great to get. He can sample things, taste test, and share.

There is soooo much to choose from... you could do a theme such as Southern foods, Northern foods, Caribbean foods, Italian...etc.. or just give bunch of everything.

Make it look nice with colored tissue and ribbon, even throw in there a Christmas bulb or two.

Food is the greatest gift of all for that hard to by for person for the simple fact we all like to eat.

Have fun with it !!!

Then you need to get him something that shows that you have taken an interest in his hobbies or his personality like a book or joke book that has his sense of humour.

Or get him something that he can tell you have put a lot of thought or effort into. Like making him a 'best boss' award card (OK that's a little cheesy) or making a cake for him to take home to his family (if he has one) he might like being able to show off to his family that his employees obviously like him.

Does he have kids you could get him something that he can give to his kids that he might not have thought of?

Look around his office, what sort of a person is he?

He doesn't have everything, or it would be impossible to get him something. Since he's your NEW boss, you can't embarrass him by giving him a special gift that's personal. I suggest something funny - maybe a bathroom book with lots of trivia in it.

There is a present on a web site called IWANTONEOFTHOSE. The present is called Nothing (its meant to be for the person who has everything) Its a kind of joke present and I think it is under £10. Other than that why not get him a voucher?

If he's an insurance broker, buy him a personality.

A charitable donation or something he already uses (favorite food, a special pen, restaurant or movie gift certificate). Keep it simple.

Find out what his charitable interests are and make a donation in his name, or get him a membership to that organization. My wife signed me up for the Arbor Day Foundation and it meant a lot to me.
