How to improve nutrition: (in what? Fast food?)

1) Don't eat fast food--it's not really that hard, is it?

Not the answer you're looking for, I'm sure. But, there are no negative effects from fast food....if you don't make a steady diet of it.
An occasional "Big Mac" isn't going to strike you dead the next day. Two or three of them a day, might. Moderation in everything.
Same with everything. An occasional chocolate bar won't make you fat (or unhealthy). Twenty or thirty of them a day will definitely be unhealthy, and make you fat.
Just wanted to say what a lot of others are afraid to say.
There is no such thing as an unhealthy or bad food. Some have more nutritional benefits than others, but it's HOW you eat them. Not IF you eat them.

1. Reduce trans-fat. Most fast foods are cooked in ultra-hot oil high in transfats. Look for food with little or no trans-fat. Transfat contributes to heart disease.

2. Reduce sodium intake. Most fast foods have huge amounts of sodium which contributes to hypertension (high blood pressure) and can lead to strokes. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, whole wheat bread and non-smoked meats.

3. Reduce volume. Most fast food joints serve WAY too much food. Most adults don't need more than what's in the children's meals. (Happy Meal etc.)

Bottom line - learn to cook at home and watch what you cook with. Read the nutrition labels, and cut everything you eat in half

Try not to eat fast food for a week or two then eat at a place and you'll see for yourself, it will make you sick upset stomach, diarrhea, you will not want to eat fast food again.

Eat a good salad with good lettuce romaine, spinach, anything you like (plain lettuce has no nutritional value) good soups, make your own things, hummus is wonderful with a salad, check out a eating well magazine and see the easy and good things to make if you get stuck on what to fix. Make a good sandwich better bread tomato spinach alfalfa Your taste decides what you want but the additives frozen food and fast food are horrible for us

Upsize to the next trouser size

Fast food’s easy availability, relatively low cost and the advertising-driven demand from our kids for fatty, salty, high-calorie fast food have to take some share of the blame for the expanding waistlines of our kids.

The fast-food giants can take more blame still for their deliberate strategy aimed at increasing the amount you spend when you visit by offering meal deals and ‘upsizes’ where a little more money gets you heaps more food.

In some instances you even get more food for less money by taking a meal deal. For example, the smallest HUNGRY JACK’S meal deals include regular-size chips and soft drink, so if you really only want small chips and a small soft drink with your burger it’s going to cost you more for less.

A recent study by health researchers at Deakin University in Melbourne found one upsize deal that delivered as much as 50% more fat, calories and sugar for only 16% more money. On average they found 12% more cash buys you around 25% more fat and calories (and nearly 40% more sugar).

It may add up to value for money, but your arteries (and backside) won’t thank you for it.

Fast foods are so high in fat that you gain weight easily from them plus they tire you out , make you sluggish. Good foods for feeling and looking good are fresh fruits , veggies, lean meats, whole grains, low fat dairy and lots of water. Exercise and at least 8 hours sleep a night.

Most of it is too high in fat, too high in sodium, too high in sugars and bad carbohydrates, and too high in calories. In short, stay away from it except as an occasional treat. Unless you find a place that offers healthier choices, such as grilled chicken sandwiches, salads, fruits, etc.
