Married for 14 years, only marriage, age in low 40's, have a seven year and had a child die.
Very happily married.
The key is to trust your partner 110%, communicate the best you can and try to know how your spouse communicates (it will be different than you), and learn to pick your battles (probably the key).
Typical problems arise from lack of trust, finances, different interests.
First, trust your spouse. If they are going to cheat you, you will not feel any better if you saw it coming. Let your spouse know that you trust them and if they want to lose that trust then they must agree to counseling immediately.
Financial are based on communication and BOTH knowing what is coming in and what is going out.
Give some room for your spouse to pursue other interest as long as they keep the communication alive with you. See if there is mutual interest in this venture.

Im 35 and I married my best friend and Im happy. Im fulfilled. I think if they are your best friends and you can chat away all the time about things you both love (music is ours) then you will last. Honesty and trust really need to be there too. If your constantly seeing their faults as a problem instead of just accepting them then you will not last.

I'm older than 30 INVOLVED and happy!! :D~
Do you think you turn 30 and its all down hill?
I had more (or atleast as much) fun in my 30's than 20's... being more mature is a plus I think.
