You are enlightened, don't let them pull you back down.
I always love how we are closed-minded after we examine various world religions, philosophies, etc... but they have one book that they have read and they are open-minded.

Ignorance is bliss as they say. I would much rather ask questions then believe what is told to me. Christianity is afraid of this so they tell you "you don't question God"
Why did Christianity need Jesus to die on the cross for their religion to be CHRISTIANITY? Did we not have a supreme being as our Father Creator before than? Wasn't Moses another great master who came to help humanity, as John the Solitaire (baptist). There is a long list of master that came to wake up and help humanity and what has happened to them? but did they make a religion out of them NO. The Romans needed it then because Jesus did not want religion and he was pulling people away from it. What humanity is lacking is asking questions? Peace and love be with you.

We're all ignorant of many things, but this isn't really a question of ignorance. It's a matter of perspective.
Believers say everything is a work of God, even those things done by non-believers. We say that religion is a human creation. All the things they attribute to God either occurs naturally or is the result of human actions. All religions are human-made.

Atheists tend to be better educated than the average person.
You probably have too much knowledge of Christianity. That's the problem. For you to be a good Christian, you have to just know what the leaders wish you to know, along with the rationalizations that they make up about the more troublesome parts of the Bible. If you learn too much about Christianity and its history, other religions, you are far too likely to become an atheist.

The problem is lumping everyone into one group. Noone fits a specific stereotype. There are some wonderful athiests and terrible Christians, just as there are some wonderful Christians and some terrible atheists. Judge the person, not the label.

I only rejected Christianity after I'd studied it at university. When I was ignorant of Christianity I accepted it even if I didn't practice it but when I studied its doctrines and beliefs in depth I found them completely unnacceptable from an intellectual viewpoint.

Not ignorant, I have found that most atheists possess much knowledge...
“Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe. It is not enough that a thing be possible for it to be believed”

I think christianity to a degree has be self-interpreted.
"never believe EVERYTHING you read"
With regards to Athiests... the fact that they question religion at all, shows that they have the ability and mindset to investigate the unspoken, and search fro the "truth"
Athiests and Agnostics are definitely well educated, but not to the point that makes christians etc ignorant
just my 2 cence...

Some are ignorant, just as some Christians are ignorant. In the end, it is not what religion or lack of religion that you profess that makes you ignorant.

No, you are not ignorant. I have read some of your answers and I think you are more thoughtful than many on here. Unfortunately, some people are very annoyed or threatened when someone has looked at the world and come to very different conclusions than they have. These people react like this.

As an atheist I am not ignorant. I don't find a need to worship a god (that I feel does not exist). Richard Dawkins book "The God Delusion" sums it all up for me. As such I am also moral. However, atheists can look at things without having religion painting their own portrait over it.
