If you want to do it, then do it.
Always make sure that you are being sensitive to his emotions. Don't just drop him hard. Ease into it. If the relationship has been on the rocks for a while, he may see it coming. Don't dote on him one minute, and drop him the next. It confuses the heck out of them, and they might think that you really didn't mean it.
Say, "I've been thinking about this for a while, and I don't think we should be a couple any more. Its not something that we can fix, and I want you to know that I've learned a lot, and I hope you have too. I'm not going to say we should be friends, because I know that you need to figure a few things out. So do I. I am sorry that this didn't work out, and I hope that you do meet someone even better than me."
And then leave. If you must, go ahead and go on a date with that guy...but if you flaunt your new relationship in front of your old boyfriend, you would be ripping out his heart. Don't do that. Keep it low-key for a while. You'll just look like an idiot if you don't. And no one else will want to date you because look what you did to your old boyfriend.

Best of luck

Try to avoid telling him that you're dumping him for another guy. Tell him the reasons why your relationship is not working and why you need to move on. Chances are, these are the reasons why you are with / interested in the other guy anyways.

It will be hard enough to tell him that you are no longer interested in him, why make it harder for him and tell him that you already found someone better than he is (unless there is a good chance that he will find out anyways). If you do decide to tell him about the other guy, try not to make comparisons to him as it will only make him more upset.

It's a cruel thing to do, but it's too late now. Give him a break and go easy on him.

First of all never tell a guy u are dumping him for another. That is cruel and will hurt him more than ever. Just tell him your feelings without mentioning another guy.

Be honest and tell him that the relationship is going no where and you want to move on. Honesty is the best policy and he will be hurt and say mean things (maybe not) but, he will get over it! Good Luck

It's not working out.

I want to see other people.

There is no room in my life for a relationship.

Uhm.
I'm sorry, but I'm leaving you. I hope this does not hurt you in a way. But it's for the better.
