I have a recipie that call for thyme sprigs and I am not sure exactly what part of the fresh thyme that it is

Is the sprig just a branch of the bunch, the whole bunch, the branch with leaves, or just the leaves?

Very closed leaves and it looks like Gorse or a Christmas Tree branch.

In the produce section. Usually near the lettuce. Fresh herbs are usually in slim clear plastic containers. Your store should have an entire section of produce dedicated to the fresh herbs.
