Back up all your personal files first, any music, pictures, documents, whatever or they will be lost when you reinstall.

You really don't have to uninstall Windows, just put your Windows install disk in and reboot your computer, the installer will guide you through the steps to reinstall windows, you'll probably want to do a quick format and install.

After you've reinstalled windows, make sure you go to windows update and download all of the critical updates.

I'm not to familiar with XP. I'm sure you have a command shell as well. Start Menu\Programs\MS-DOS PROMPT, once your in the command line type FDISK. Alot of it is self explanatory from this point. I use this command line often to wipe out my drive.
