I need to make some sugar wax. And I read on Wikipedia this recipe that says to heat all the ingredients together and at 250 degrees F. So what is that? On my stove i see a dial low has 1 and high has 9 or something are those like the degrees in hundreds? or something

you need to purchase a thermometer, place it in the sugar wax and observe the temperature as you cook it.

No, just different settings from low to high. The numbers don't indicate degrees. You will need a thermometer to tell you how hot your wax is, either one that can sit in a saucepan while the lid is on, or a pot with it's own built in thermometer. And you will need to keep the lid on to make sure it gets that hot on your stove top without having to turn the dial up to 9, which can and will burn the sugar. Sugar needs to be heated slowly for best results.
