Mav read in James that faith without works is dead. He said "I will show you my faith by my works"

So that leaves Mav to this question - what is 'Works'?
is it reading your bible, doing bible study, going to church, having communion, doing work in church?
Is it living your life in such a way that you show Christ through your actions?

ooooo Mav ask deep question!

Yes.

The last part of your question has profound implications: "living your life in such a way that you show Christ through your actions". That is the essence of living faith IMO. That is what James means when he taught that "faith without works is dead." It can't be lip-service - true Christians must really "walk the walk" even when nobody's watching. And THAT'S the real challenge! :-)

Mav, I think you just answered your own question. It's all of the above and more. You have to work to grow in God and strengthen your Faith. Many people go to Church on Sunday and think that's enough. I'm a good person. But being good isn't what the Bible says. You have to accept Jesus as your Christ so you can go to your Father. You need to put Gods will first, instead of your own or that of man. You work to be Christ-like.

"works", I think and believe it is Yes to all of your questions.
I think it is reading the Bible to gain knowledge, participating in receiving communion when/if your church practices this, showing stewardship with your church, and living your life by Christ-like example of your actions.

Yes, Mav asked a deep question for Monday morning, bless her!!

that's a complicated question... yet I do think of that's useful to deduce that faith and being born lower back will lead a individual on a direction of righteousness. If one is baptized and leads an outrageously sinful life, does not it relatively is useful to deduce their faith exchange into based in deception? guy is by utilising nature vulnerable, or maybe the main efficient in faith fail at circumstances. yet, being reliable in faith, we rebound and return to God with a sorrowful coronary heart in seek of forgiveness and therapeutic. i think of "faith without works is ineffective" skill if a guy claims to be Christian yet isn't outwardly living the Christian life of goodness and charity is being deceptive approximately their faith.

Read the last paragraph of Matt 25. That explains what "works" are, and also states very concisely what will happen to those who neglect such works.

Showing Christ through your actions. Doing things for God's glory and not your own! That is what works are! God Bless!

You may be a person that has great knowledge of what they believe in and pass it on to others in conversation, but if that person never does any good deeds all that knowledge is worthless. Deeds being what you demonstrate or even good thoughts that are heartfelt for others. Peace and love be with you.

It is living your life trying your best to emulate the example and teachings of Jesus.

Faith without works was not really faith at all.

Love and blessings Don

Yes, those things would all be "good works" but notice that James is not speaking of being justified in the eyes of God (that is by faith alone, Romans 3:28) but of being justified in the eyes of your fellow man:

I will show YOU my faith ... YOU show ME your faith ...

God does not need to be "shown" anything, He sees our hearts.

I agree!

As a Muslim I take this to heart:

1- Worshipping God
2- Educating Myself
3- Being Generous giving to Charity
4- Volunteering
5- Being there for friends and Family

and more.... Everything Good you do is an act of worship!

Our prophet said even a smile to your fellow man is a charity :)
