I know this is a funny question, but I am having a debate about this with a friend. We have all heard someone say "Oh no, I would break your legs." when offered a lap to sit on, maybe you have said it yourself. But...is it really possible? Can one person really injure another by simply sitting on their lap?

I guess it's possible to get a stress fracture. My mother once broke her leg in her sleep. They said she apparently just rolled into an ackward postition in her sleep and got a stress fracture. When she woke up she couldn't walk.

It's just a saying. However, I have seen people break chairs by sitting on them, so I'm sure the lap could be made very uncomfortable!

i would think a heavy object thrown into a person's lap and if the bones were say deficient in in calcium you might cause a break. However, the thigh bone is one of the largest in the body it takes a lot of weight or pressure to make it break.

Maybe if you were over 600 pounds and the person you were sitting on only weighed 100 pounds..then MAYBE. I'm sure its possible though.

Its not possible. unless the person is made of steel and the steel preses through all that tissue and mass, and down to the bone 2 crush it. NOT POSSIBLE

no... I can't explain properly, but I've read some medical stuff on that, and if a person is normal and healthy (that is, without any bone disorder and all) it can't happen unless the weight is REALLY huge.
